Whitney Houston Hologram? You’ll Have To Wait

Pollstar: Pat Houston, the late singer’s sister-in-law and head of her estate, says she’s had offers to debut a Houston hologram, but she won’t sign on just yet.

“We did Madame Tussauds, the wax museum, with Whitney’s figures and that was a little scary to stand there and take photographs next to these figurines of Whitney. It’s kind of spooky,” Pat Houston said in a recent interview.

I can imagine that having a hologram of your sister-in-law would be pretty freaky- I understand why Pat Housten turned down those offers. I think it's a little creepy in general how our culture obsesses over dead celebrities and tries to keep them alive- listening to their music is one thing and honoring their memory is obviously important, but I feel like it's a little strange to make holograms of them. It's also strange to me how people are releasing albums of dead celebrities music and marketing it as their "newest album," as if they were alive, instead of presenting it as a compilation or a memorial to their work. I think it's important to remember great artists and honor their work, but to me holograms seem almost disrespectful to their memory.
