6-Player Starship Party Game! ARTEMIS!

YouTube: Ever wanna pilot a starship? Dream of being Scotty, Sulu, or Spock? Artemis is a 6-player game that lets you and your friends work together to defend space stations from hostile invasion. Anthony grabbed Annie from Annie's Bits and Esther and Roger from io9 to help him helm a starship for the first time. Spoilers: it doesn't go well.

Anyone see the ARTEMIS simulator as the basis for a really engaging installation art piece? The theatricality of the simulator comes from the interaction of the players, even without telling a literal story. This is what excites me so much about the potential of making interactivity part of theatrical experiences - the audience members in a show like Sleep No More or Bricolage's STRATA closer to home get the same opportunity to engage in the storytelling through their actions in the space and willingness to be immersed in the experience. If a gameplay element like the ARTEMIS simulator could be embedded in the story of an audience-interactive work, the result could be really engaging.

Wow that's awesome!!! I don't know put this on the blog but they rock. I think it's really awesome that these people are so in to star trek that they put all of this together. The game looks really fun as well as paying tribute to one of the best sifi shows ever. When I was in fifth grade my class spent the night at the museum of flight. We got to play different roles in a mission to land a space craft on mars. It was a lot like Artemis but with less guns and more science. The experience showed me that the hardest part of space travel isn't the technical challenges but the interpersonal ones. I think that this also applies in theatre. I was also thinking that this sort of format could make a great team work building activity.

I LOVE IT!!! I think this would be absolutely amazing to play. All I could think of is to have my fellow TD to pilot the ship, with either Boevers or Dale in the captain's chair. I think the best part would be that Boevers could quote us an inspirational speech during the battle, where Dale would, well we all know Dale just imagine. Think this would be something really cool for an theme park ride or anything. The best would be to build an bridge and have it rock and roll with the game. Think this is just a smaller operation of what some theme parks have had for years and also something you could take home to play with your friends.
