There is an absolute distinction from an event "coordinator" versus an event "project manager". Being in event "management" versus event "production". Generally the events that are done within a corporation have event coordinators that design and conceptualize the event, who then hire a third party event production company (especially for larger projects) to facilitate that concept.
I find it interesting finding the distinction between management and design roles in the events world, because I think that it can largely be a combination of the two disciplines. If you are interested in only one of those areas, then you should pay close attention to what the duties are in your job description.
An "Event" could be anything from a small wedding to a festival. They vary greatly in scale, type and involvement. So understanding the expectations from your position is particularly important.
I agree with Ariel- this job posting embodies the intersection between a coordinator and a producer role for events. It seems like the position is extremely varied- you have regular management duties but are also more of a creative role in putting together promotional events. It sounds like a very difficult balancing act, so you should know what you're getting into before you take a job like this.
