Arts funding body bows to complaints

Herald Scotland: A MAJOR shake-up has been announced by the crisis-hit national arts funding body following a storm of criticism from hundreds of artists. Creative Scotland, which distributes £80 million of Government and National Lottery funds, has announced new internal reforms a fortnight after its chairman, Sir Sandy Crombie, received an unprecedented letter of protest from more than 400 artists.

It is good to know that the starving artists have a little more power than they first let on. I think that this is the right way to change the funding and all of the components that go into the art community. It didn't sound like there was a clear way to label the type of art and the lottery system made the entire idea a lot more complicated than it needed to be. Clarification is always a good thing and it is definitely a necessary preventative measure to take when we start adding money into the mix. Hopefully there will be a lot less tension in the funding department than there was before.
