I love how nowadays that shows of all kinds, like this tour, are utilizing multimedia to a large extent. It allows for a new way to alter someone's reality for the short while that they are viewing the show. It also astounds me to see just how quickly people are able to put the graphics together in order to get the show in motion.

Michael Laprise, the show director, says "Projection is a medium that employs a great deal of technology." I find that I am constantly frustrated in design classes because most of the projects and assignments are geared toward manufacturing or creating an art piece with you hands.. like crafting a product. Rarely to we have the opportunity to go as in depth with design using technology. I realize that its logistically impossible to teach everybody the skills that they would need to do create this kind of media content - and the crafting projects are laying the fundamentals of design for us - but for students like me who want to pursue that realm of design I am glad to see we are beginning to incorporate media into our curriculum. Another reason CMU is on that list of top colleges.

Moment Factory looks to have done an amazing job at creating stunning and unique multimedia content for Madonna's tour, which is fortunate enough to have the largest video screen in the world! I myself have had lots of experience creating multimedia for theatre and I can say from experience that the goal most of the time is to create a fluid, organic environment for the video/ projections to occur within--one thing that Moment Factory strived for. The way that multimedia can instantly completely alter a stage is one of its most intriguing characteristics. In one of Madonna's songs the stage is turned into a "photorealistic 3D cathedral," yet later turns into a "train trip through India." The possibilities are endless with multimedia, and Moment Factory has done a great job utilizing its abilities for the MDNA tour.
