Announcing the 2011 Campus “Champions of Change” Challenge
The White House: Every day I have the pleasure of meeting and working with the best this generation has to offer and it’s been my mission to spotlight and support the extraordinary work of America’s youth. Today, I’m thrilled to present a new opportunity to do just that. The White House Office of Public Engagement and mtvU are proud to announce the first ever Campus “Champions of Change” Challenge. The Challenge invites college and university students from across the country to demonstrate how their student led project is improving their campus community and helping America win the future.

I clicked on this article first because I was interested in the title, and what it means to be a "Champion of Change", also because this was coming from the White House, and thus the President. I think that this challenge/ contest is just another example of how revolutionary the last few years of voting has became for the youth: there has been an over surplus of young adults now involved in the news because of our last election- whether in support of Obama or not. It's now "cool" to make your country a better place, and care about politics, or at least care about your communities. And i think this is so not just solely because of a wider range of voter's ages in the last few years, but because America actually needs the youth to help us in the future. We have faced a tremendous crippling deficit, and our country was easily deemed lower than low on the technology front in the world spectrum for the last few years. But now- there is a new calling for science and technology- one that I have seen be more relevant and emphasized than ever in schools across the US.. especially here at Carnegie Mellon!! I think it would be wonderful if we can have someone, here, at CMU, could demonstrate all that our school, and the youth thinkers of today have to offer our future- especially in a country that could use new advancements in technology so greatly!
