Fred Gallo’s Technical Direction For Spider-Man
Live Design: A spider is an eight-legged creature. Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark has as many moving parts, and keeping them fully functional is the job of Fred Gallo, Production Resource Group founder and president of PRG’s Scenic Technologies division.

The more I see about Spider-Man, the more I wish I could have been a fly on the wall through-out the tech process. All of the design elements are so intermingled that it must have been difficult to keep straight who was doing what. All of the scenic units needed to be built and rigged with automation but at the same time needed to be rigged for lighting, and all of it has to work together. It would be fascinating to hear about some of those pre-build discussions about who would be working on what piece when. It makes sense that PRG did all of the technical work for the show, because it's too intertwined to split it up between companies.
