Zambelli flame show to heat up holiday weekend

Post Gazette: Pittsburghers have a reputation for being fireworks connoisseurs.
So, when Zambelli Fireworks puts on a first-of-a-kind display Saturday night -- a full-length flame show along the Allegheny River -- it expects it to be a huge success.
That is, if the weather cooperates.

This sounds like a very interesting show, we're used to fireworks in Pittsburgh, this would be something very new. The only problem I can see is that it's considerably smaller than a fireworks show and will only be visible from a smaller area. Add to that the concerns with the weather and I'm probably going to have to miss it. Hopefully someone will have video of it to show afterward for those of us who can't make it.

I appreciated what the designer said about helping the community. Theatres help their communities thrive. This isn't technically "theatre" in the traditional sense, but it serves a very similar purpose. Theatre is a great way to bring people (tourist and community members alike) to one area.
Also, this just sounds really really cool.

This sounds really great, I have not heard of audio synchronized flame shows before. Quite a twist from traditional fireworks. I'm curious what sort of control system they use to sync up the show with the audio. I wish I had read about this earlier or I would have tried to go see the show.

This reminds of the WaterFire events that occur up in Providence. I think the idea of juxtaposing of putting fire with water is really cool to watch for most people, and really does bring people along the river to watch events and listen to the music. The WaterFire event didn't synchronize the fire and music, so I think it makes what these guys are doing even more interesting and impressive. I think it's a great event to draw people downtown, and get people into the city

I am happy to hear about companies, such as Zambelli, trying to make a difference in the economic development of the country. It sounds like they have put a great amount of time and planning into the show, which is what you have to do for any sort of performance in the theatre. You have to have everything drawn out ahead of time to see that it all comes together properly. I'm sure the show was great time for everybody that went and watched!
