What a shame. This is one of the plays coming to Broadway this season that I had been most looking forward to. Neil LaBute is one of my favorite writers, and I found his first Broadway play, "reasons to be pretty" to be a stunning insight into American perceptions of beauty and affection. Fat Pig is the second play in this trilogy on notions of appearance ("reasons to be pretty" is the third), and has a much harsher tone to it that is characteristic of LaBute's plays. I am hopeful that the show will indeed open next year as promised, but I feel awful for all the design team and other producers who have to watch their hard work be put on hold.
