Ballet celebrates colorful Hispanic heritage | The Pitt News
The Pitt News: "The growing influence of Latin culture in the United States must not be ignored. At least, that’s the belief of Ballet Hispanico, a New York City-based dance company that aims to show Pittsburgh — and the world — the many ways in which Hispanic heritage has influenced the art form.

This sounds wonderful, I think that pieces exploring anyone's culture are always a lot of fun and interesting. Im Colombian, and I just came back from visiting some of my Colombian family in Florida. And it was amazing to be out in public, and since parts of Florida are very heavily Hispanic, and be around people who were just speaking Spanish. So it is great to hear that pieces about our culture are growing everywhere. This show especially seems to have a great structure in order to combat stereotypes and show people new things. The best part sounds like, and this is probably why it is the finale, it is going to be the last piece about a Havana night club. Incorporating dances that are traditional in such an environment that people can relate to is brilliant. Because everyone understands what it is to have or to want to have that passion with somebody and that is personified through this type of dance. I am happy to see that shows like this are developing all over and hope that they will continue as well as that of other cultures.
