MTV crazy about 'Idiot'

Variety: "Youth-driven MTV and tradition-bound Broadway may seem like strange bedfellows.
But the television showcase MTV is about to give 'American Idiot' is almost sure to boost the profile of Green Day's Broadway tuner, particularly among young auds that are a core demo for the show."

Sure, why not. We seem to be allowing all sorts of things on Broadway recently. And I guess this isn't the first, and won't be the last Broadway show scored by a "popular" music artist. The major one that comes to mind is The Who's Tommy, although I don't think American Idiot is being billed as "Green Day's American Idiot". The political nature of the production might be appealing to a larger audience than just the MTV crowd, however, I would imagine that a large percentage of the audience, at least initially will be 30 and under. I think that will be a good influx of youth to the ticketing numbers.

While this idea is not the most original, I think this whole production is a good way to introduce a younger audience to theater. I dont think this production will last more than a few years. I do like green day i dont think i pay more than $100 to see this show.
