This critic is seriously undermining this work, and for all of the wrong reasons. Just because a play isn't groundbreaking in its material, or is a rehashing of other well noted works, doesn't make it any less of an enjoyable experience. Honestly, I'm mostly surprised that people were offended by the language in the play--there's very little in the media any more that gets censored, and even less that is left out for consideration of the faint of heart.
I would be curious to see this touring production--perhaps a lot was lost in the company's approach, but I can't imagine how such a reknowned play could lose its splendor overnight.
