This is really exciting news for me. I think that this could attract more people to come see performances of the Producers. Joey Fatone is known not only for being a member of NSync, but has a lot of credibility for his Broadway roles. Having a nearly mainstream celebrity performing here in Pittsburgh shows the credibility of CLO. I personally want to see this production even more now.

This seems very interesting that the are bring in a star for "The Producers." I feel that this is somewhat of a bad idea to bring in Joey Fatone. He was popular in the 1990’s and that was a decent amount of time ago. I know that this would not make me come to this show. I feel when theaters do this it somewhat cheapens the show. It takes the focus off of the show and how well the show is done and moves it to “let’s bring in a star to sell tickets.” I am sure that this will sell more tickets for them and that is great. I guess you have to do what you need to to stay in business.

I am also exciting to hear this news. I liked N Sync when I was young. Also, I watched 'Producer' in korea and I liked that play. I am really sad that I would not see 'Producer' because I gonna go back. I Hope this show will be success.

In response to Robert, whether bringing in big names cheapens the experience of the show or not is up for debate, but no matter what your opinion on it is, it WILL sell tickets. And while that isn’t the sole goal of performances, it obviously is something that needs to be done. Without an audience, you can’t have a show. I personally think it’s a smart thing to do, as you can definitely draw in attention.

I agree with Tiffany in that it's a smart thing to do, but I don't ever want to be quick to judge former celebrities just because 1) I don't know why the originally got into this business, maybe it was to get a jump start on acting. 2) if you had lots of time and money and connections and loved theatre, wouldn't you want to audition for lots of musicals!? if you can do it, go for it. joey fatone isn't a bad actor at all. he was hilarious in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding." So kudos to him for doing something with his life that doesn't include cocaine and being a spokesperson for the E Network (even though I'm not sure but he may have done that at some point...) Who knows, he might be good!

I'm really torn about this. On the one hand, I think it's great that theater is using big-name actors to bring in wider audiences and expose more people to theater. On the other hand, local actors should be given the experience of performing in these shows. What experience does Joey Fatone have to perform in the Producers? And why does that make him more qualified than someone from Pittsburgh who's been working with CLO for years? Or even a young, up and coming actor who needs a break?
This always bothers me, but I just don't know how I feel about it. I wish there were a way to expose more people to theater, but at the same time, we need to support our actors and give them opportunities!

WOW! I'm very surprised they are pulling in such big names for these productions. Does this mean the opera is doing better than normal financially? They are obviously trying to pull more ticket sales, but to have such. We shall see if it works.
