SHOW REVIEW: 'Ka'

ReviewJournal.com: "See 'Ka' again to remind yourself of the promise Las Vegas entertainment held in 2005.
The sky's-the-limit mentality wasn't confined to high-rise condos and CityCenter. It also was clear that with Cirque du Soleil's checkbook pointing the way, the Strip's ability to custom-build a title was going to lead to some amazing places."

The artical is some what instring but I already knew a lot of the info in this artical. I think that ka will be the show that every one will compare to for tec part of theater for a decent amount of time.

I think that the technical aspects of Ka are incredible and while I enjoy that aspect of a show, especially a cirque show, it doesn't feel complete if the story is not there with it. Also, if the audience can't tell what is going on then they'll feel lost in the show and will walk away from the experience with a negative opinion because they were not part of the show. The story has to translate and the audience has to be included for the show to reach its potential.

Overall, this article ignores themost important aspects of the production. Throughout the article it describes the flaws in the overall seating arrangements but ignores the massive technical leaps and impressive nature of the show. The extreme techincal leaps are are something that should be appreciated by the world. This article signifiiantly ignored this.

I find this article very interesting. It seems, from the author, that Cirque audiences come to see a very specific genre of show. They do not come to have to pay attention to the story content of the show they come to be entertained. I think it says a lot about what an audience wants from a particular company or show. If the average audience goer had wanted to see a show with an intricate plot they may have chosen to see something different. I'm not saying it is right but it sure is interesting.
