Think Laterally

Stepcase Lifehack: "Lateral thinking is a phrase coined by Edward de Bono as a counterpoint to conventional or vertical thinking. In conventional thinking we go forward in a predictable, direct fashion. Lateral thinking involves coming at the problem from new directions – literally from the side."

I think that this is a really interesting way of approaching solving a problem. Sometimes when you get stuck during a project, and you just can't get out of that rut, you need a totally new and "innovative" way of thinking, and I think that lateral thinking provides that. If your average Joe, straight away thinking isn't doing the trick, why not try another way, even though it might take a while to get accustomed to.
