You know things are really heading downhill when the Met, arguably one of the best funded theaters in the country, is needing to make cuts. I've heard stories of the ridiculous budgets that the Met has sustained over its lifespan -- I hope the economy doesn't hinder the productions this season or next. One of our lighting design candidates Brian MacDevitt is designing there again next season -- perhaps he can let us know first hand how the economy is really affecting the venue.

Going to sit in on the broadcast of II Travatore over spring break -- quite excited.

Its really across the board now. Even if the Met hasn't been loosing money the feeling of a crunch due to the future economy will make a theater blanch. Hopefully they won't get too cut happy, or have to.
