With ‘The Atheist,’ Ronan Noone’s Irish Eyes Are Now Shining on America

NYTimes.com: "OF the several hundred soon-to-be new Americans standing up to take the oath of citizenship at Fanueil Hall in Boston in 2000, the majority, as Ronan Noone remembered it, had decided to change their names to something more Yank."

This sounds amazingly moving. The struggle of the main charcter in this new show is a new twist on the american dream. The reflections that the writer puts in the show are remarkable because the events tend to mimick his shifts in America. The style goes well with this feel of the play, to the point and without any hedging. This sounds like a very difficult play to be in and a great play to see.

It is really great to see an example of the true American dream actualized and complete! An Irish immigrant who is very comfortable in his own style and traditional form of play writing, steps out and starts to modernize his concepts making them more "American" but still keeping a bit of his dark tone and style.
