Edward Clug and Ballet Maribor set Romeo and Juliet to Radiohead.

Pittsburgh City Paper - Pittsburgh: "The ballet, which makes its U.S. premiere when it opens the 2008 Pittsburgh International Festival of Firsts this week at the Byham Theater, puts a different spin on Shakespeare's tragedy. Set to songs by alternative rockers Radiohead, danced by Slovenia's Ballet Maribor, Radio and Juliet dwells within one specific moment in Shakespeare's tale: the moment when Juliet awakens to find Romeo lying dead next to her."

This sounds like a wonderful idea and I'm pretty sure that someone from the freshman class has already seen it. It kinda reminds me of the ballet I saw at BAM a while ago of Edward Scissorhands in that it sounds like a bad idea when you hear it 'lets do Romeo and Juliet to rock music!' but if you put really talented freethinking artists on it who care about what they're making, you can make something better than anyone would have guessed.

I saw this and LOVED it! It was a really interesting way to retell the story, exploring the tragedy in a very new way. Some interesting elements were the use of 5 different dancers all being Romeo at one point, constantly changing. And although I was a little worried about the inclusion of Radiohead music, I thought it added a sense of mechanicality to the show.
