Earth Friendly Etheridge Impressed With Impression

Elation Professional: "She won an Academy Award for her song featured in Al Gore’s film on global warming. . . she posts “Green Tips” on her website. . . Melissa Etheridge makes no secret about her concern for the environment. So it’s only fitting that for her 2008 Revival Tour, Etheridge’s lighting director David Hamilton switched to a new LED fixture that saves huge amounts of energy, yet is so incredibly bright that a handful of units can light up an entire concert stage. The new fixture also creates less waste, since its lamps last for 100,000 hours, generating less throwaway for landfills."

i love this. i often look at the amount of energy that is used in productions and the amount of waste that is produced at strikes and in the shops every night and think that we cannot continue to fuel an industry like this. the amount of resources in the world are dwindling and we have to adapt. that's why this new invention for theatre is a step in the right direction.

300 degrees in one second! That's pretty impressive. Obviously LED's are more energy efficient than incandescent, but what seems to be the big E-saver here is the light's spread. 10 lights to cover the whole stage evenly is pretty cool.

I love how earth friendly things are beggining to get. I mean, even the fact that hey did not use haze for the production becasue of the effects of the smoke. Its pretty comforting to see the U.S., which uses about 1/4 of the world's energy, begin to go greener.
