PostGazette: "For its summer 2009 Benedum Center season, Pittsburgh CLO turns the corner into a new era, supplanting the traditional, classic musicals that have been its mainstay with shows of more recent vintage and mode."

This seems like a great season for the CLO! Interesting to see that they're doing a production of Into the Woods a year after CMU's. I wonder how they will compare. Hopefully crew schedules wont conflict so I'll be able to see some of the productions :: hint hint ::

This season sounds great. Doing a show of Les Mis will be great. The wide range of genres and time periods the shows express reflects a real uniqueness that the CLO has.

I believe that the CLO’s season is very interesting and hopefully it will be successful. It has a balance of proven favorites (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat) and new theatre (Legally Blond: The Musical). I believe that the most important thing in planning a season is variety, and this season has it. I am looking forward to getting to see these shows (if our schedule allows) and cannot wait to see how the CLO tackles them.

I'm surprised that this article makes it sound like the CLO has such a surprisingly modern season. I've found that most of their other seasons have contained the same balance of some classic shows and some modern touring shows. This season is definitely an interesting one because the CLO is taking a risk and performing Les Mis, a rather difficult show to do in summerstock.

I am a huge modern musical theatre fan and was really pleased to see this season together. I feel it has a great blend of the really contemporary with Legally Blonde and the old favorites, Into the Woods. What I most enjoy about it is that the shows are all so vastly different. It is sure to give those working, and viewing productions, at the CLO a broad and interesting cross section of musical theatre.

I really like the sounds of their season. I'm a huge Into the Woods fan, so its great to hear that someone else is doing a version. Its also great that they are doing something rather different, Legally Blonde. Their season sounds like a lot of fun, the shows all propose different challenges, but I think that the shows complement each other.

It is interesting that some of what they are calling "new musicals" have actually been around for a long time. I suppose when you haven't done something of the same genre, it can seem new to your team and your subscribers.

I'm really excited for this season and to see what adaptations and takes CLO will do on their exciting pick of shoes. Though I found it odd (and perhaps suspicious?) that they are doing a production of Into the Woods a year after CMU did it, I still look very foward to seeing their interpratation and adaptation.

It’s odd that Christopher Rawson considers Into the woods, Les Miserables, and Joseph and the Technicolor Dream Coat not classic musicals. The my not be as old as works by Rogers and Hammerstein but they are very well know pieces. It seems as though the CLO should be entering the Gene Kelly awards this year with all the high school classics they are doing.

I am so excited about CLO's up and coming season! I have some of theses shows at my old high school like Into the Woods and Les Mis and i am really looking forward to seeing them performed professionally and seeing how they compare.

CLO's season sounds wonderful and I wish it success. I like the variety and it sounds like they put a lot of thought into it. Though I must say, that I am getting tired of revivals and that CLO should try to produce even more left field shows.
