I saw Rent my very first week away from home, the first week I went to college. Call me a sentimentalist, but I believe that that viewing had a lasting affect on the way I perceive with adulthood and independence. Critics may call Rent unrealistic or idealized, but I'm really glad I got to see it at the time I did.
