Police Drama, 'The Rant', Will Premiere at New Theatre in FL
Yahoo! News: "Artistic director Ricky J. Martinez will stage the drama, about an investigator assigned to the murder case of a 16-year-old African American boy shot and killed by an NYPD police officer. The investigator 'must wade through prejudice, deceit, and a volley of anonymous threats to find out where culpability and truth really lies,' according to New Theatre notes."

I wished this article had said when this shooting occurred, because it seems like such a current event. I think theatre such as this that raises the issues that are right here in our backyard happening two days ago, are great. Obviously there is dramatic things happening all over the world and it is good to keep up to date with those events, but it is better to not fall behind with those that are happening right under your nose.
Like Peter, I wish it was specific in what this show is based off of. The idea surrounding the show is very relevant and I'm sure will cause questioning and reflection--and probably some inevitable controversy. This sounds like good theatre! I hope to hear more about this.
