Edgy new play puts DNC, media on mock trial
The Denver Post: "Long before he knew Barack Obama would be the Democratic presidential nominee, local filmmaker Mitch Dickman knew the party's convention here would be an anticlimactic and expensive orgy of spectacle and excess."

This is an incredibly interesting project and I wish them success. Even though their intents are represented as critical of the media more than of politics, I'm wary of a political slant inherent in the production. At least the Daily Show makes an attempt to openly mock the process of both the Democrats and the Republicans. Do they wish to comment on the theatricality of politics in general, or just of the Democratic party? What conclusions are drawn from such comments? I think using entertainment industry techniques in attempts to draw more attention to political issues in our generally apathetic country is a logical train of thought, but do such tactics "cheapen" legitimate problems?
I agree. When the criticisms are covert it lends a sneaky sense of immaturity to thei arguments.
I think this will be an intersting project to work on, but it's not like only the Democrats had a crazy convention, the Republicans have one too. The Republicans did suspend theres for the hurricane, but they still had a large convention after the hurricane made landfall.
Still this project will be interesting to see as they will be mocking those who mock. It should be interesting.
