The national endowment of the arts is a worthy cause but it is rather weak in toady's political and economic environment. The great thing is that congress has a growing appreciation for the arts regardless of how they show it. I would say that the endowment is responsible for the ability of some lesser known artists to create poems, paintings and plays. But well known "mass produced art," always it ends up on the shoulders of the private sector, which in a way allows for more creativity and flexibility.
