The first description really had me...I was totally thinking that I would never need to buy a lighter again. But I can't imagine the potential market for this thing being big enough to justify the development dollars spent on it, especially if it really is only usable for 2-3 minutes before it gets too hot to hold.
I really do not understand what the reasoning for this product is. The consumer to sell it to is limited and you don't want just anyone getting a hold of this or else we are going to start losing houses. Its not worth buying for that price and is impractial to use for anything in life when a lighter will do just as well. Not to mention a lighter at least needs some skill to get working while this one is easy for anyone.
Why do I need a flashlight to light paper on fire and fry eggs...?
This is the most ridiculous flashlight I have ever seen. It is an interesting product but the practicality of it is not present. There needs to be a better use of the flashlight than lighting paper on fire, or using it to fry eggs. This would not be a wise purchase.
Like the article and everyone else has said, this product is simply impractical. Sure, it's nice to have that much lighting power in such a small package, but there is absolutely no battery life. However, once they solve the battery problem, this product could have military or law enforcement applications as a form of non-lethal weapon, i.e. temporary blinding of suspects, similar to a flashbang.
I think this is one of the greatest things I've ever heard. A flashlight that can burn paper and fry eggs, and has a battery life that seldom makes it to double digits.
Pointless? Probably.
Awesome? Definitely.
It is the Hummer of flashlights. Except only half as ridiculous.
