On Tap for Broadway - A Male, Male, Male, Male World
NYTimes.com: "TO study the behavior of men under stress you won’t need to look much farther than the front pages of newspapers this fall. The surprise entry into the race of a certain moose-eating, gun-toting grandma-to-be caused a minor shift in the focus, but most of the news-media glare will soon rest once more on the flaws and strengths, the goofs and the gaffes of the two men leading the tickets."

I don't know if it was an active decision to put men in the spotlight this year, and if it was, I'm not sure I would totally agree with it. Yes, women did have a peak in the industry last year, but I believe that that's just out of a coincidence of the top shows and performers last year. You can't really predict what the "best sellers" are going to be. You can make an educated guess, but you never know what is really going to happen until it does.
I think it is pretty exciting that men will be on top this year. Theatre needs more men and having Broadway be dominated by men may get younger boys interested in theatre. This will help fill the next generation of Broadway players.
Congrats to the women of last season, now let's see what the men can do!
