'Idaho!' the Musical Currently Playing at NYMF
(BroadwayWorld.com): "Tater country is turned spud-side-up in IDAHO! when a mail order bride comes to town and falls in love with the wrong man. Born (out of wedlock) from the golden age of musical comedy comes a new love story...a twisted tale of wife stealin', spud peelin' and double dealin' at a time when men were men and Aunt Pearlie carried the shotgun."

Hmmmm...Interesting, a musical about Idaho. Being from the Pacific Northwest, I'm not really sure how I feel about this. It sounds like the themes of the musical (wife-stealin', spud peelin', shotgun-carrying aunts) deal with very old and tired stereotypes about Idaho. I wonder what sort of representation of Idaho this musical presents. There's a lot more to Idaho than wife stealing and all the other white-trash country stereotypes. Also, they do more than grow potatoes there. I just hope that this musical doesn't reinforce people's negative stereotypes of Idaho.
