IATSE makes peace with ONEXONE charity over Maple Leaf Gardens gala; action against Loblaw to continue.
CNW Group: "IATSE Local 58 and the ONEXONE children's charity have resolved a potential dispute over staging the charity's annual gala at Maple Leaf Gardens on Monday, September 8. The union had previously announced it would leaflet the event if the producers of the gala went ahead with non-union stagecraft technicians."

Resolving the political issue of who will tech the show should not be more important than the charity that the show benefits. The crew does have union rights but to try and harm a play for charity just because of politics is petty.
Ok... so "IATSE members have staged every theatrical and musical event at the Gardens for decades." doesn't really matter. What matters is what the contracts say. If an organization does not have to use the union by the venue's contract then there should be no dispute. Unions need to play by the rules as they expect everyone else to.
At least they were only going to leaflet the event and not shut it down. The charity is the most important part after all.
