Opera performers scramble to fix crisis

Pittsburgh Tribune-Review: "Tuesday night's Pittsburgh Opera performance of 'Aida' started out like an opera conductor's worst nightmare.
First, the mezzo-soprano got sick and had to be swapped.
Then, the lead tenor's allergies started acting up.
And then, the substitute tenor's flight was delayed -- but the curtain was already up, and the clock was ticking, so the first tenor was toughing it out as best he could."

Having seen this performance, I was also really impressed by the Opera's recovery from the whole set of events. The conductor did a great job with the singing, and the perseverance of everyone involved was astonishing.
