Towson University Department of Dance Announces:
Title: Production Coordinator (12 month, staff, PIN position)
The Purpose of this Position:
To support the production efforts of the Department of Dance. Must enter job knowing that this position is a full-time job and outside work will have to be carefully approved by the supervisor well in advance.
Specifically by: Good communication and quality dance lighting design skills. Managing and maintaining the performance spaces and studio sound playback equipment; Maintaining and approving production, event, rehearsal, and class master calendar for CA 1003; Hiring and supervising support personnel (technical crew and students) for rehearsals and production of events in CA 1003; Maintaining administrative and fiscal records associated with CA 1003 management; Administrating CA 1003 operational budget, including billing facility users; Coordinating and/or supervising all events in CA 1003; Coordinating all activities within CA 1003 with producers, artistic personnel, production personnel, technical staff, dance faculty, office staff, and student crews; Teaching, mentoring, and supervising college work study crews, contingent staff, undergraduate students, and technical assistants; Acting as a resource for artistic and production staff and students; Supervising all professional staff (designers, operators, stage managers, technicians, etc.) working in CA 1003. Oversee website design and maintenance for the Dance Department.

Special machinery and Equipment to be utilized; Professional lighting and sound system equipment including: control or mixing consoles, DMX devices, all types of theatrical lighting figures, microphones, amplifiers, wireless intercom systems, playback and recording equipment; Projection and Video presentation equipment; Temporary Power Distribution equipment; Personal Lifts, Ladders, Scaffolding, curtains, marleys, portable seating system, instructional equipment, screens, portable whiteboards, portable boom boxes, pianos.

Typical decisions made by this position: Administer developed policies which ensure proper use of the facility. Establish and enforce guidelines for production of events in CA 1003. Maintain and approve Master Calendar of events for CA 1003 Purchase supplies and equipment for general day-to-day functioning as well as specific production related items for CA 1003. Purchase of major equipment and systems for use in CA 1003. Maintenance scheduling for equipment and facility. Bill producers for activities within CA 1003 and ancillary facilities. Regular updates to faculty during faculty meetings.

Special hours of work required: Non-traditional, frequent night, weekend and holiday work schedule; work hours are directly related to the demands of the class, rehearsal, production and maintenance schedule of events. Yearly typical 6 productions in CA 1003 (65 seats) and 3 lighting design/stage managing productions in Stephen's Hall Theater (700 seats).
Knowledge, Skills and abilities required of this position: This position requires multi-disciplinary expertise and specialized skills necessary to support and produce a variety of performing arts genres and special events. Self motivation Excellent problem solving skills Strong time management skills Strong lighting design skills Flexibility related to varied and constrained schedules Ability to manage safe work, classroom, and public assembly environment Ability to develop guidelines of facility use and production policies of events in CA 1003 Ability to manage and organize varied workloads Ability to collaborate and coordinate with a variety of administrative, artistic, production, and academic personnel and event planners to ensure sage and successful presentations in CA 1003 Ability to collaborate and coordinate with Architectural and Engineering, Facilities Management and Maintenance personnel and ARA service personnel for the maintenance and improvement of CA 1003 and ancillary facilities Ability to train, teach, mentor and supervise personnel Ability to hire, manage and schedule appreciate human resources to complete time sensitive tasks, projects, and events Proficient in the use of theatrical equipment, electronics and computer software Proficiency with maintenance and inventory of facility equipment Ability to administer operating and production budgets including daily operations, facility management and improvement and payroll Knowledge of and compliance with procurement regulations related to cost comparison/analysis and ability to make informed selections for a wide array of daily operational and long-term equipment and service needs for CA 1003 and ancillary facilities.
Physical demands of the position: Infrequent breaks or scheduled meal times; extended hour/work schedule; climbing ladder; working in elevated, constricted, confined and potentially hazardous work spaces.
Minimum requirements for exempt positions: Education: Bachelor's degree Work Experience: At least 3-years Type of Experience: Theatrical design, stage management and production management, production coordination
Special certification required: BA, BFA or BFA degree preferred in Theatrical Production. Certifications are not required, however, knowledge of industry standards and safe practices for shop facilities and performing arts environments are required.
Additional comments: This position requires the ability to create intimate knowledge of Towson University Department of Dance Production practices. Excellent communication skills and people skills required.
