sacbee.com:

"As the tool's popularity surged during the building boom of the 2000s, a Sacramento Bee investigation found, nail gun injuries also took off despite decades of warnings from researchers and doctors that the guns are dangerous, especially in the automatic mode known as 'contact trip.'"

Nail guns are insanely dangerous. That danger is just something that you need to be aware of every time you use it and you need to make sure that you're pay attention every second that the hose is plugged in. Why don't they add conductive plates to the handles that know why your had in on the grip and won't fire without you holding it? I don't see many other ways of making them safer without slowing the tool down and making them less efficient.

Well obviously it can hurt you. It is like Police officers carrying around guns as if they were those riot control bats. No it can kill people. Just as they use caution, construction workers must do the same, I guess it is a little different since nail guns are used more readily but I mean use with caution or just stay away from it or learn it.

It is difficult to assume who knows how to safely use the nail guns. We talked a little in Scenic Fab, but it is seems the consumers are making the companies more and more difficult to produce a product that is easy to use. Because it is so important that the customers do not put the nail gun on the railing or other very dangerous things that they think are safe, maybe some of the power tools should have a quick test to see if they are qualified to have one or not.

This is a tool I often overlook as dangerous because we use it so much and it seems obvious that it can be dangerous if misused. It's hard to balance the safety and frequency of use assumptions because it seems the people who use them frequently end up getting hurt.

It is unfortunate that these handy tools are very dangerous and can hurt people very bad. It should be required that the guns have a better safety mechanism to prevent these accidents from happening. Although this may slow down the workday but it is better to be safer.
