I really hope a resolution is reached soon. It's events like this that remind you so much of what makes unions good, but kind of scary. They are all for the workers, but when there is a strike, a particular industry might be completely crippled. Like what the entertainment world is facing right now. They couldn't do the Golden Globes because the people receiving the awards wouldn't come. I'm glad there is such a strong support system for the writers, but it is a reminder of the delicate balance of power that keeps everything up and running.

Jumping off of what Chapel said, it's easy to take the union for granted when everything's going according to the rules and regulations. I think that a lot of the time in normal circumstances the union may seem like the annoying breathing over your shoulder but when it comes to things like this you remember why they were instilled to begin with; for the workers.

I think this strike will come to end soon. If everything does well in the next couple days then we can expect new tv and the oscars. Though this strike lasted much longer than I thought it would I think that the unions had thier right to make it go on this long. As the article said the issue that seems to have finally been handled is the issue of payment to writers of what is being showed on the internet. This is the issue that no one wanted to get the short of the stick of. After this whole issue is handled I expect that we won't see a strike for awhile.

Well it's about time, that's all I can say. This entire thing has just gotten petty with both sides not budging at all. I think the studios are keeping the entire things going out of pride since I'm sure their loosing millions with so many shows not running. Thank you to CMU, I haven't missed a single show due to the strike, I just don't watch TV anymore.

I am glad to hear this strike is coming to an end, it has lasted a lot longer than I thought it could. It will be interesting to see how they negotiate(d) royalties for new types of media distribution. Hopefully the theatre wont see any types of problems like that in the future.

I think one main reason this is occuring now is because now is a majority of the main shows people watch have gone to reruns. Before, noone really felt a difference, but now the public is involved, because we all know how involved we get with our tv shows.
