Watching the democratic debates last night where they were talking about Cuba and the possibility of future talks, and reading this article about the arts in a similarly (sort of) oppressed country made me wonder. How are the arts in Cuba surviving. We never really talk about current artistic issues anywhere but where this blog is concerned, and I realized that I don't really have any idea what is going on with the arts in countries where they don't have the same freedom of speech and assembly as us. I wish there was a Foundations V or something where we could really look at the current artistic world. It makes me glad that we read this blog though. I don't feel quite as ignorant about the rest of the world.
