The Core Company

The Core Company offers an opportunity for dedicated and adventurous theatre artists in training to spend five weeks creating THEIR OWN original work alongside today's most cutting edge theatre companies. When they're not working on their own material, Core Company members will join with professional artists in master classes, apprenticeships, and dialogues about what it means to work collaboratively in theatre today.

We are looking for students from diverse creative backgrounds: not only acting, but directing, writing, choreography, painting, music, film-making, etc. If any of your students are interested in applying, please direct them to the Core Company website (link to application is in the left margin). We also have a Facebook group, called "Core Company @ The Orchard Project," where students can find more frequently updated information and connect with other rising and established artists around the country. Our application deadline is March 15.

Thanks so much, and please don't hesitate to contact us with questions. We look forward to hearing from you and your students soon.

Sincerely, Andrew & Jake

The Orchard Project "A vitally important and necessary space for companies and artists..."

The Orchard Project is a joint program of the Exchange and the Catskill Mountain Foundation. Through its unique residencies, the Orchard Project provides much needed resources of time and space to today's most influential theatre companies, and thus has quickly become a leading center of development for company sponsored artists to experiment and explore new ideas, develop their next great work, and collaborate with other theatre professionals. Past resident companies have included Pig Iron, Radiohole, Royal Court, Rude Mechanicals, Edge Theatre and The Civilians, among others. Read more about the Orchard Project at www.orchardproject.com , and in this 2006 New York Times article: "Collaboration in the Catskills ."
