The Theme Is Ancient, but the Subject Is Modern
New York Times: "The Israeli director Ami Dayan had planned to stage “Kiss of the Spider Woman” for the Denver Center for the Performing Arts last year. Then the radical Hamas party swept the Palestinian Authority elections, and Israel and the United States refused to negotiate with the new leadership. “I called the theater and I said, ‘Look, we’ve got to do a different play,’ ” Mr. Dayan recalled."
