TITLE: Technical Supervisor
DEPARTMENT: Performing Arts

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Director of Production and Chair of Performing Arts, the Technical Supervisor will provide technical and event supervision and support in the performance and production spaces of the Tufte Performance and Production Center (PPC) and rehearsal studios. Specific duties include; 1) Maintain condition and inventory of all PPC theatrical equipment; 2) Hire temporary and part-time technicians and maintain list of available local freelance technicians; 3) Share in the supervision of departmental production activities with the Performing Arts technical director; 4) Provide support for Performing Arts class project productions; 5) Schedule all technical load-ins in conjunction with the department Director of Production, Production Manager and/or Technical Director; 6) Review theatre requests with Director of Production to assist determining estimated event budgets; and 7) Assist with other duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
BA or BFA in technical theater or professional equivalent. Previous experience in professional theatre, an academic setting, managing multiple spaces and budget, preferred. Skilled in interpersonal and organizational communication. Computer skills in word processing, spreadsheets and database management. Knowledge of theatrical lighting control, distribution and dimming systems. ETC WYSIWYG, Obsession II, ETCNet2, and Unison a plus. Skilled in all standard aspects of theatrical lighting equipment use. Knowledge and skills in basic electrical, video and electronics repair, sound equipment and controls and theatrical rigging including pin and rail. Richmond, Sound Web, ProTools, Audio Box and Sound Forge experience helpful. Knowledge of State and Federal regulations with regard to safety and fire codes. Basic first aid skills. Ability to supervise and work with undergraduate students.
