Marvel Spins Spider-Man into Broadway Musical
Backstage: "That may not be the official title, but Marvel Studios is putting the pieces together for a musical on the Great White Way starring the popular superhero, which will be directed by Tony winner Julie Taymor, with U2's Bono and the Edge creating new music and lyrics for the project."

not to offend any of you comic book or Marval fans, but wow . . . that looks aweful. i am curious to see what kind of message the Spidey-musical has. i think it just goes to show how people will do what is easy and what will sell, which i guess is the goal, but by doing this? wow . . . wow.
Oh no, Doc, prepare yourself for something even more pointless than the Wedding Singer...WHY would anyone think this is a good idea?!?! I mean, don't get me wrong, I love Spiderman, and if they got Tobey Macguire up there onstage I'm sure I'd go see it... but Spiderman the musical??! Who was sitting in their rolling leather chair thinking..."hmmm, why not?"
I feel like there are a lot of shows that, conceptually, sound like the worst idea of all time, but then they end up actually being pretty good. This particular idea, however, sounds like it will have to be an effects feat above everything else. With the amount of computer technology they've had to use in making the movies believable to audiences, creating an effective web-slinging illusion on stage will prove mighty difficult. To give credit to the theatrical audience, though, they are quite a bit more forgiving than moviegoers when it comes to suspending disbelief.
I'm all for giving things a chance, so I'll be curious how this turns out . However, it does not sound all that promising. I hope it does well just to rub it in the face of critics because it's good for them.
Wait...did I just read that correctly...that sounds interesting but very, very wrong on so many levels....don't even get me started on the irony of it. I can see it now: Spider-Man: The Musical! Featuring favorite songs like: "What's this white stuff shooting out of my hand? (I can climb walls!)" and many more!!
