Learning to be funny

CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Stage: "A new program at Columbia College Chicago allows students to take classes at the Second City, the Old Town humor mecca that has turned out some of America's best-known improvisational comedians. Students also attend shows, network with artists and present their work in a showcase -- all for college credit."

I've heard of this program from friends and it's amazing from what I've heard. This type of class is something a lot of actors want and don't get because it doesn't "exist" in an academic setting. It's nice to see that these things are being made available to students that seek it out and that the right company is providing it. Kudos.

I think this type of thing is awesome. I love it when there's collaboration between programs/companies for the sake of educating the artists. I really think that it provides a wider range of what the students need. Also, I'm sure the connections don't hurt either.

On continuing on that theme it's also awesome that they say you don't need any previous experience and they're looking for fresh faces. That will most likely be a huge advantage so theyre able to have a fresh face and not be so worried about other training.
