Death warrant

SignOnSanDiego.com: "Never mind that your VCR has been flashing “12:00” since the Reagan administration. This time, for the venerable VHS video format, the clock really has struck midnight."

but really, DVD is already on the way out... I just finished designing a video distribution system for a trade show booth where people had to look at plasma tvs from fairly close (less than 8') so I had to squeeze the maximum resolution out of the equipment. Settled on a 1080i/60 video signal. This is many times better than DVD and even better than HD-DVD, but all the equipment is capable of playing it. Most tvs and HD players on the market (even home entertainment grade) can handle the resolution. So as soon as they start shooting the video at the super-HD, people will be able to play it. VHS is definitely gone, but standard resolution-DVD is soon to follow.
