Team re-creates outfits made famous by Jackie Kennedy and Marilyn Monroe for new Pittsburgh play

Post Gazette: "The style icons are brought back to life with some fictional, gossipy twists in 'The Secret Letters of Jackie and Marilyn,' a new Pittsburgh Public Theater production that makes its worldwide premiere here Thursday. Based on a Wendy Leigh novel, the three-character play revolves around the two women -- portrayed by Heather Tom (Marilyn) and Gretchen Egolf (Jackie) -- and 'Patty,' Ms. Monroe's bikini waxer and confidante, played by Carole Shelley"

I am working on this show as an assistant for the stage management team and I can assure you, the detail in the dresses and the thought put into them screams on stage. They look like couture dresses that could be bought today. But the fact that they are hand made is extremly remarkable. A little known fact that I picked up: The wigs are designed by Marilyn Monroe's actual wig designer. They are completely realistic and you would think that Heather Tom's hair was Marilyns. I hope everyone who is interested in costumes can come and see this show. It exemplifies what Susan tried to teach us as far as attention to detail and strong research.
