What V-Day stands for
Post Gazette: "Eve Ensler doesn't just write words about defending women and girls against violence; she has founded a global movement called V-Day, with events and programs around the world. Its Web site, www.vday.org, functions as a kind of clearinghouse for news, calls to action and inspiration for women who want to do something to combat abuse and discrimination."

I want to make the most of this article reflecting on domestic violence against women. In most countries, even those which are considered some of the most developed (like Sweden), this is a daily life problem. It is not unusual to find out in the media or in the press, articles about women that have died because of the violence their partners do against them.
It is also very sad to see this is not a problem of social class, education, race or national origin. It is a problem everyone may suffer.
For that reason, it is so important to claim and betray those who are violent. And it is also imperative that Governments help those brave women that have decided to stop these situations. This kind of social subsidies are crucial for them to start a new life away from their aggressors. It is really difficult to do so without a social and political support…
I think it is really useful to have this kind of days that help us to reflect and be self-conscious of these problems.
