Bitten! A Zombie Rock Odyssey

The Austin Chronicle Arts: "Several days after seeing Bitten!, an original rock musical written by the Unbearables (a band) and produced in conjunction with Loaded Gun Theory (a theatre company), I am still singing the songs."

I had a friend who saw this show and called me telling me basically everyhting the writer said. The singing was ok at best, the lighting and sound were a joke but the band was amazing and from what she could understand of the lyrics - the show could be amaizing. Wonder what is causing a trend in zombie shows to be produced now?

Contrary to what this article is saying I doubt that having one single component work in a show can make the show overall enjoyable for an audience. If one element being outstanding would put "butts in seats" then there would be tons of shows that worked like that. The set and all the other components can amuse me for a good majority of time, but in the end it comes down to the acting and directing. If those elements are bad then the show just becomes unbarable.

Yeah, but you'd probably go see a rock show without dancing, sets, or good lighting. So that's the big difference here. And the songs really are that infectious. Let's be honest. 99% of musicals have everything BUT good music. You should really try out the one WITH good music.
