LIGHTING DESIGNERS and PROFESSIONALS GIVE YOURSELF AN EARLY CHRISTMAS PRESENT

Stagecraft Institute of Las Vegas announces their inaugural workshop.

Lighting Symposium 2006 will be held at the Tropicana Resort and Casino December 11-13, 2006.

Las Vegas is the epicenter of entertainment technology and spectacle. From Cirque du Soleil’s 5 shows, to the technologically enhanced production of Phantom of the Opera, Vegas is where it is happening. That’s why The Stagecraft Institute of Las Vegas is offering a series of Symposia and Technical Seminars in Las Vegas that draw on the skills and talents of the working professionals in Vegas and throughout the world.

Stagecraft Institute has assembled an exciting and excited group of working professionals to conduct its first symposium. The ‘Faculty’ includes Roger Morgan, Tony Award winning Lighting Designer of over 200 Broadway and Off-Broadway shows; Luc Lafortune, award winning Lighting Designer whose work is most often associated with Cirque du Soliel; Marc Janowitz, a member of the Blue Man Group design team with 17 years experience as Lighting Designer and programmer from New York to Las Vegas; Brian Gale, Lighting Designer for Cinderellabration and Dream Lights Electric Parade; Joe Tawil, Emmy winning founder and President of GAM Products; Nol van Genuchten, Lighting Designer for Cirque du Soleil’s Varekai and a Special Events Designer in Canada and the US; Mark Dooley, Lighting Director for Cirque du Soleil’s ‘O’; Jennifer Setlow, Lighting Designer for the San Diego Rep, who has also designed for The Old Globe in San Diego and The La Jolla Playhouse.The Institute’s Faculty of Experts are all working professionals with experience in a broad cross-section of the industry and who have worked in a variety of venues from Montreal to New York to Los Angeles.

The Symposium will be led by Don Childs. After four decades as a theatre designer and educator, Don founded the Stagecraft Institute of Las Vegas to provide the finest quality training in all areas of live entertainment design and technology, utilizing working professionals, state-of-the-art facilities and world class shows as examples.

Attendees will not only be instructed by the leaders in the industry, they will be able to meet with those leaders on a one on one basis, break bread with them, and pick their brains. They will also see at least two spectacular shows designed by the members of the faculty: Blue Man Group and KA. Backstage tours of the Blue Man Group and KA venues will be followed by Question & Answer session with designers and/or staff of the two shows. Tickets to Blue Man Group and KA are included in the cost of registration. Discount tickets to both shows are available for friends or partners of attendees. Discount tickets can also be purchased by attendees for two other shows: Mystère and Love.
