Advice for students: Twenty uses for a Post-it Note

lifehack.org: "[T]he Post-it Note was more than just a practical tool — it was also a psychological one. Compared to the clunky machines of the 1980s that generated all those documents, it was a vision of high-tech minimalism."

Oh Post-It Notes....I have a problem with them when they lose their stickiness. They tend to fly off of whatever I have them on and then I can't remember what I wanted. OR I put them on an object, and then put that object into a bag, and then it gets scraped off for me to never see again. I have now resorted to note pads...when I am done with a sheet, I can rip it out and throw it away. And then if I need something from 3 weeks ago, I can look back through the book and find it. Whereas, sticky note piles are a bother and hard to carry around without being torn apart.

I agree, they're not a good way to document important information, or make lists. They do have their place though. David's Syllabus writing system demostrates one good use, and another is notating paperwork or drawings you cannot alter.

I LOVE POST-ITS! So, they made a super sticky kind, which is wonderful, so they don't really have the loss-of-stickiness factor. they are great for organizing your thoughts, making lists and reminders. Plus, they come in a dizzying amount of colours and shapes and oh my! They are a great page maker, you can stick them on a wall and keep your to-do list organized. They really aren't meant, i don't think, for keeping information over a long period of time, but for a short-don't-forget-to-do-this-in-the-next-few-days-or-so system they are great. Oh, post its make me so happy.
