Speaking Out
Backstage: "How are actors 'of color' really faring? Back Stage heard from minority actors around the country, who revealed their experiences, opinions, fears, and hopes about being in the industry. The actors represent the famous and the up-and-comers, stage vets and screen faves. Their quotes, printed here, reveal as much diversity as, well, the world can boast."

This article was particularly insightful since most of it was direct quotations from the minority actors themselves. I know so many people who don't know what it's like to be judged by what you are instead of who you are just because you are from a certain place and/or look a certain way. If nothing else, it's annoying. I'm very happy to hear that actors are speaking out and challenging the sterotypes that have been in place for entirely too long.
