Did Wicked Bewitch the Critics?
Whatsonstage.com: "Broadway blockbuster musical Wicked opened last night at the West End’s Apollo Victoria Theatre (See News, 16 Dec 2005), complete with a green carpet for the celebrities dotted among the audience, and cheers from the supportive crowd as each of the main characters arrived on stage. But did it live up to the hype?"

I was once told a story regarding Avenue Q winning the Tony over Wicked - apparently those involved with Q made ample mention of the fact that the Tony's should support smaller shows in favor of larger, more extravagant productions. I admit I want to see Wicked still, but having heard the music of the show (and seen pictures etc) I'm not surprised it's considered somewhat extravagant with little true substance. Though I'd want to actually see the show before making an absolute decision.
