I broke into the San Fran Regional theater by taking a course at Solano's competition, Diablo Valley College to make some contacts. I didn't hear much about Solano, but was given the impression that they were a reasonably well supported 2 year program with fairly modern facilities. It sounded as if the program was mostly actors pulling duty as technicians, but the few dedicated techs they graduated tended to be able to find freelance work around the Bay Area (There are some 100+ theater companies in the region) or steady work with one of the regional theater houses.

If anyone is interested in applying and wants some more info, I can ask around my contacts in the Bay Area for more info on the program. I don't actually know anyone who works at Solano though.
