Time Out New York: "When it comes to politics, theater has never really kept its hands clean—since the Greeks, those tap-dancing the fastest are usually the ones bitching the loudest about the current regime. But theater today has little to do with being an engaged citizen. When folks whine about activist theater, it’s either that the form has vanished (“The world is such a cushy place that we have time to stage The Fantasticks again?!?”) or that it makes for bad art.
