The World's Creepiest Opera Is Under Construction
Gizmodo: "An Austrian production of French Revolutionary opera ‘Andre Chenier' is set to start in July, on the banks of beautiful Lake Constance. Not quite so beautiful is the eery, incomplete, massive human torso (with 49-foot head) that provides the stage.

They do Opera on the Giangantor size scale. They did a production 2 years ago (i think?) of West side story that was unreal. I would recommend to anyone to google the "Bregenzer Festspiele" and check out the different sets they have done. I really want to know how they operate and the time line between their shows.
Supposidely their sets are floating and I wonder what it would be like if they ever decided to do rep. It would be rep with tug boats.
This looks amazing. However, I wonder if the set out weighs the performances.Such a large scale. Conversely, I am curious as to where they get the funding for something like this. Can they afford this on ticket sales or is there some arts organization that is patronizing opera of this scale. This is impressive but I wonder how lucrative it is. I definitely think it can serve as an inspiration for next years season.
