Tuesday at 3pm Is the Most Agreeable Meeting Time

Lifehacker: "Meeting scheduling service When is Good looked at 100,000 responses to 34,000 events logged to their service over 2 years and found that 3pm—specifically Tuesday at 3pm—seems to be the most agreeable time for a meeting."

I would have never have guessed that 3pm is the most agreeable time. And that it is Tuesday is the most agreeable day is not that surprising for me because the way that people some times works Mondays is a day that people can get things done that they did not get done the privies week. I would just think that they time would be different not that late in the day I would think that they would meet at an early time in the day. I am cores about what type of people that they got this date for this. This was a very eye opening article.

I can't believe Tuesday is the most productive day. I've always felt that Tuesday is the hardest day to get through. Monday can sometimes go easier because it's the first day of the week, but Tuesday is that day in the middle. Wednesday means the week is almost halfway over, but Tuesday is the day off in the unknown. Maybe that's why it's the most agreeable day. It's the weird day with no place, so why not put it on the day you would expect to have nothing to do.

I am only slightly surprised by this result. In terms of the way a week works I always look at Monday as the call people back/make appointments day. Tuesday you are still pretty fresh from the weekend, if you get one, but you don't have to return calls etc. Wednesday starts to really pick up and you start to think about all the projects you have to get done by the end of the week. By Thursday you are wishing it was Friday but you still have so much to do. Then on Friday you're trying to get everything finished for the weekend.
I am personally more inclined to say yes to a meeting on Tuesday as well. I also like that the most common time was 3:00pm. When you think about it in the corporate/business world you probably have a bunch of group meetings etc in the morning and don't have time until the afternoon for anything else. I am really someone did a study on this.

Wow. the entire idea that there can be a most agreeable time of the day is a bit out there for me. But this is backed up by some staggering research (34,000 users is a lot). Its also interesting that from 10-3, we become more flexible. I don't know exactly what this entails, but one thing i'm curious to hear about is how this flexibility may interfere with productivity. if you're available to change what you're doing instantly, are you invested as much in what you're doing?

In the environment most of us are in right now, it is very rare that many of us will be available at 3:00, whether or not it is Tuesday. For most of us, right before or after crew is the best time to meet. This may or may not fall around 3:00. I'm curious to know why Tuesday is more free than most other weekdays. It seems to me that any other day would be just as viable.

It looks like Robert has a good reason why Tuesday is best for productivity, and Devorah brings a good reason for 3pm being a good time for meetings because people schedule more in the morning, leaving the afternoon (but not too close to the end of the day) open. While this logic seems to work well for the business world (which we are mostly speculating on), it's pretty clear that Tuesdays at 3 does not work well for college students because of classes.

I find it would be really interesting to do a similar study for college students. Two large factors on our schedules compared to a regular business day are that we have classes (and crew), and college students are a lot more likely to schedule something at any time while awake. I've had meetings at 10 or 11 at night, and scheduled recurring meetings almost that late as well.
